Most of Alaska's cruise ports are just steps away from the city's main area, where you'll find restaurants, lounges, historic districts, museums and nature to enjoy. I found it easy to choose excursions based on my budget, and since most meals and expenses are supplemental on board, a cruise can be a good way to visit Alaska without incurring as much expense as a land vacation.
